Flipped

         

         The story starts when Bryce Lowski’s family move in Juli Baker’s neighborhood when they were 7. From that moment Juli saw Bryce’s dazzling eyes, she knew she liked him. However, Bryce feels completely the opposite. Juli had been stalking her since they were in the second grade and the fact that they are neighbors drives him crazy. It was in sixth grade when Juli finally learned to control herself and Bryce made a move to escape his ‘Juli nightmare’, he asked Sherry Stalls out. Bryce knew Juli hated her and this was his plan to get Juli jealously walk away from his life. After a few weeks, Bryce’s supposedly best friend, Garett, told Sherry Stalls the truth about the pretend relationship. It lead to their break-up. It was then the time when Juli stepped into the picture once more.

           Juli loved this sycamore tree in the bus stop, she always climb the tree to feel nature. One morning when they were waiting for the bus, wood cutters went to cut the tree when she was on the top, Juli asked Bryce to climb up so they won’t cut it, unfortunately, Bryce doesn’t want to miss school for a tree so he ignored her request. Juli was certainly depressed when the tree was cut. She’d always stay quiet and alone. Few months later, Juli was back in her own self. Her science fair winning chickens laid eggs and she’d give eggs to Bryce every week. Bryce told his family about Juli’s gift, however, because of Bryce hatred to Juli, he’d said he’ll never eat the eggs because of the Baker’s hideous yard. The Loskis were afraid they’d get salmonella so they told Bryce to give the eggs back. Bryce doesn’t want to return the eggs because he was afraid he’ll hurt her feelings so he just threw them away. A dozen of eggs are delivered every week to them and still Bryce keeps on throwing them. One day, Juli saw Bryce throwing her eggs off the trashcan. Juli was so mad at Bryce and the fact that he insulted their yard made her even angrier. She knew then than she no longer have no feelings for Bryce.

        Bryce felt guilty for doing the actions. So he tried saying sorry to her but every time he goes near Juli, she seems to stay away from him, a constant reminder that he’d been a jerk to her. Juli fixed up their yard and Bryce’s grandfather, Chet, even helped her in fixing their yard. Chet talked to Bryce one day, telling him that Juli has a retard uncle that’s why they haven’t spent anything to fix their house. Bryce suddenly see Juli differently. He then tried to catch Juli’s attention, but nothing seem to work. One afternoon, when Juli was going to read her books in the living room, he saw Bryce digging a hole in their yard. Juli got mad and was about to go to Bryce when her father told her that he allowed him to dig a hole. Juli watched as Bryce carries a small tree to the ground. Juli was more than surprised to see he was planting a sycamore tree. She went outside and helped Bryce. Then, they both realized that they weren’t talking that much to each other, but surely they know that this will be the start of a whole lot of talking.
